The Green Climate Fund

The Green Climate Fund

Created by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Green Climate Fund (GCF) aims to support a paradigm shift in the global response to climate change. Its mission is to tackle climate change challenges by mobilizing funding at scale to invest in low-emission and climate resilient development.

The GCF is an operating entity of the UNFCCC’s financial mechanism and inter alia supports developing countries in the implementation of the Paris Agreement within the evolving climate finance landscape.

The GCF provides its resources through accredited international, regional, national or sub-national entities; they can be public, private or non-governmental institutions. “Accredited” means that these entities went through the GCF accreditation process and meet the fiduciary standards and environmental safeguards of the Fund.
