The Environmental Information and Education Centre continues to implement the textbook  ,,Pre-school Environmental Education’’ in the whole country to promote environmental education. With this purpose, the representatives of the centre trained preschool teachers and methodists in Tsalenjikha Municipality and provided them with the educational resources.

 

The textbook Pre-school Environmental Education was  adopted within the school readiness program, which includes the theoretical issues and practical exercises suitable for the age. This manual unites three environmental topics: biodiversity around us, water and ground conservation and waste management.

 

The textbook has already implemented in Tbilisi Municipality, Kakheti, Guria, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Shida and Kvemo Kartli regions and is implementing in Imereti and Samtskhe-Javakheti.

The Environmental Information and Education Centre continues to implement the textbook  ,,Pre-school Environmental Education’’ in the whole country to promote environmental education. With this purpose, the representatives of the centre trained preschool teachers and methodists from Zugdidi Municipality and provided them with the educational resources.

 

The Director of the Centre Tamar Aladashvili addressed to the participants of the meeting and underlined the important role of the pre-school education in solving environmental problems. The director remarked, that the textbook will be implemented in the whole country until the end of 2019 and the centre will remain to promote the pre-school environmental education with the other activities as well.

Within the information campaign on biodiversity, the Environmental Information and Education Centre held an informational meeting to raise awareness of the local community in Tetritskaro Municipality.
The first part of the meeting was dedicated to the issues related to the regulation of the amount of wildlife, including legislative regulatory norms, regulatory procedures, causes and preventive measures of the attack from wild animals. In the second part of the meeting, the focus was on reptiles, their role and importance in ecosystems. During the meeting, with the help of experts, the participants learnt to detect poisonous and non-venomous snakes and to distinguish their bites from each other using morphological observation method and heard recommendations on how to behave in the case of meeting with snakes and being bitten by them.
During the discussion, problematic issues related to the municipality were identified, on which the participants got the concrete recommendations from the field specialists.
The participants of the meeting were provided with the information brochures,, Learn More’’ and,, Wild Animals and Human’’.
Within the informational campaign on biodiversity, the Environmental Information and Education Centre will continue meetings in the municipalities of the whole country.

Participants of The CENN Ecocamp ,,Water and Human Rights’’ visited the Environmental Information and Education Centre.
The Deputy Director of the centre Ekaterine Bendeliani met the guests and presented activities of the centre to them. The second part of the meeting was dedicated to environmental human rights as part of which, the participants heard presentations on the Aarhus Convention and Sustainable Development. They got acquainted with the main principles of the convention, rules and terms for requesting public information.
At the end of the meeting, the discussion was held with the participation of Mariam Tsikaradze, favourite eco-speaker of the centre from the Niko Ketskhoveli School Awards and the participants of the meeting discussed the opportunities for use of the obtained information.
The Environmental Information and Education Centre, whose one of the main objectives is to support and popularize environmental education in the country, will continue to hold similar meetings with the young people interested in environmental issues in the future.

The representative of the Environmental Information and Education Centre met the participants of the Ecocamp organized by CENN in Kachreti and spoke about the ambient air policy.

The essential part of the meeting was dedicated to important issues such as the ambient air quality in the capital city and regions, main pollutants and on-going and planned events towards improving air quality.

The meeting was continued in the interactive format after which the participants expressed their opinions on the measures needed for improving air quality.

At the end of the meeting, the participants got acquainted with the ambient air quality portal - air.gov.ge and instruction for its use.

The Environmental Information and Education Centre continues to hold lectures and meetings concerning the ambient air quality which aims to provide reliable information for the interested people about the ambient air quality protection policy, sources of pollution and impact of air quality on human health.
