Media   NEWS   “Environmental Democracy - Human Rights and Responsibilities” - training in Guria

LEPL Environmental Information and Education Center of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia continues its information campaign on “Environmental Democracy - Human Rights and Responsibilities”.


Within the campaign, the training was held in Ozurgeti Municipality and was attended by representatives of the public sector, non-governmental organizations and media sector of Guria Region as well as the public schools' directors from the Guria municipalities. The training participants received information about the fulfilment of obligations under the Aarhus Convention and the importance of human environmental rights and access to environmental information. 


The above-mentioned trainings aim to facilitate the implementation of the obligations under the Aarhus Convention. The Aarhus Convention which Georgia joined in 2001, obliges the signatory countries to ensure access to environmental information, public participation in the decision-making process and access to justice in this field. 

The Environmental Information and Education Center will continue trainings on human environmental  rights and will cover the whole country by the end of the year.
