The Eiec of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia is implementing a project to raise awareness among farmers across the country. The project aims to conduct training for farmers on various topics and to strengthen their capabilities.
Within the framework of the Eco-Grants Program, trainings for local beekeepers on honey production and bee family care were conducted in eight municipalities of Imereti (Zestaponi, Tskaltubo, Chiatura, Sachkhere, Terjola, Tkibuli, Baghdati, Kharagauli).
Giorgi Beruchashvili, an expert of the Ministry, introduced to the beekeepers the latest news in the field, measures to fight bee diseases, a technological map of honey production, bee family care, and the importance of farm planning.
The trainings were conducted in an interactive mode and the farmers received comprehensive answers to the questions of interest from the trainer, shared their experiences to each other and focused on the issues that are a priority for them in the municipalities.
The training were focused on climate change, its risks, and climate-friendly agriculture, which was introduced to the trainees by Marie Bendeliani within the framework of the "Ecogrant Program."
160 farmers were trained in honey production and bee family training.
The piece of training was held in the framework of ‘’ecogrants program’’ training also was held in Guria, Samegrelo, Imereti municipalities. Training was held on modern technologies for the care and cultivation of nut culture, about 230 farmers participated in it.
The Eco Grants Program is initiated and funded by BP and its partners under the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Oil and South Caucasus Gas Pipeline projects and implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia (CTC).
