To mark International Desertification Day, you are invited to participate in the poster contest ‘’Perspectives on Desertification and Sustainable Land Management in Georgia’’
Desertification and soil degradation threaten one third of the earth's surface, leaving more than one billion people without a source of income and living conditions.
Desertification and land degradation are not only ecological problems for Georgia, but also social and economic ones. Excessive grazing, deforestation, unsustainable agricultural practices, and irrational land acquisition are the main causes of land degradation for urban development.
International Desertification Day and involvement in activities dedicated to this day is a unique opportunity to remind everyone that the fight against desertification is possible and its elimination is achievable. The key to achieving this goal is to strengthen community engagement and collaboration at all levels.
