With the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), within the project - "Reducing the risk of climate-driven disasters in Georgia" the EIEC is announcing a contest for community organisations - "Create a safe community".
The contest's purpose is to promote the reduction of natural hazard impacts caused by climate change at the local level, to strengthen the community's resilience with the maximum involvement of interested parties, and to raise knowledge and awareness about natural hazard disasters.
The submitted project must be related to one of the 7 natural hazards provided by the program (flood, hail, mudslide, landslide, drought, strong wind, avalanche), which is a challenge for both the municipality and the community.
Application submission procedure:
Applicants must submit a complete project application to the EIEC no later than September 30, 2022, to the following e-mail address: info@eiec.gov.ge (please indicate: "Contest for Community Organizations" in the subject line of the letter).
The applicant must submit the following documents to the centre:
● Complete application of the project (certified by the organisation's letterhead or stamp and the director's signature);
● detailed and itemised budget (in Excel format);
● extract from the public register;
● Summary of the implementer of all activities planned within the project.
The projects presented in the contest should reflect only the work of the applicant organisation. In the event of plagiarism, the organisation and project will be immediately disqualified from the contest.
The centre will use the information provided by the applicant only for the purpose of discussion and will not share it with outside people or organisations, except for the cases stipulated by Georgian law. All the materials and documents presented within the contest remain at the disposal of the LEPL EIEC.
Program "Reducing the risk of climate-driven disasters in Georgia" is funded by the governments of Georgia, Switzerland, Sweden, the Green Climate Fund (GCF), and Switzerland. The implementation of the program is ensured by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
The contest will be conducted in 2 stages:
Stage I—selection of applications;
Stage II—presentation of the project proposal.
The project application will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
1. The applicant's estimated budget's quality, accuracy, clarity, completeness, and cost-effectiveness (20%)
2. Innovativeness and Creativity of Proposed Initiative
3. The sustainability of the proposed project
4. awareness raising
5. Organisational and involved parties experiences (15%)
6. identifying and integrating the needs of vulnerable groups (children, the elderly, women, individuals with disabilities, members of racial and ethnic minorities, and internally displaced people) (10%)
7. Cross-sectoral work (facilitating local government, the private sector and community engagement) (5%)
According to the results of the both stages a special commission will select a winner, who will be awarded 4,000 USD for the project's implementation.
