The Eiec of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia held a community forum within the framework of the project "Reducing the Risk of Climate-Driven Disasters in Georgia."

It is noteworthy that the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), with the involvement of an international expert, is working on a community-based disaster risk management strategy.

According to Tamar Aladashvili, head of the Eiec community-based disaster risk management, this will allow local municipalities to be more proactive and set strategic goals for themselves.

In order to facilitate the development of the strategy and ensure the involvement of the local population, representatives of more than 50 municipalities, councils, and community organizations in Georgia discussed policies and approaches at the local level within the community forum. The international expert shared with the participants the best experiences in community-based disaster risk management.

The Climate Driven Disaster Risk Reduction Program in Georgia is funded by the Government of Georgia, the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), and the Government of Sweden, and is implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
