The LEPL EIEC of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia continues the information campaign on the topic "Environmental Democracy - Human Rights and Duties".
Training was held in Tskaltubo and Mtskheta as part of the campaign, with members from the public, local non-governmental, and media sectors of municipalities in attendance. The participants were educated on the Aarhus Convention's obligations, the relevance of human rights and environmental responsibilities, and access to environmental information.
This training is aimed at facilitating the fulfilment of the country's obligations under the Aarhus Convention. The Aarhus Convention, to which Georgia became a party in 2001, obliges signatory states to ensure access to environmental information, public participation in decision-making, and access to justice in this area.
The EIEC will hold training on environmental human rights and responsibilities with representatives of municipalities from all over Georgia until the end of 2019.
