Environmental Legislative Regulations in Signagi

To improve environmental governance and law enforcement, a training course about environmental legislative regulation organized by the Environmental Information and Education Centre of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia is conducted all over the country. 

Within the framework of the program, a meeting with the representatives of Signagi City Council, City Hall and administrative units have been held. The meeting was attended by  Iuri Nozadze, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and Irakli Shioshvili, Acting Gubernator of Kakheti region. 

Iuri Nozadze spoke about the new legislative basis and its importance. The Deputy Minister underlined the Forest Code and Extended Producer Responsibility that creates the new environmental system in the country.

Considering the important role of local municipalities in environmental impact assessment, environmental supervision and control and biodiversity and waste management issues, training will promote capacity building of self-government institutions and implementation of those obligations that are regulated on the municipal level. 

By the end of the year, trainings will be held in the whole country. The trainings will be led by heads of the relevant structural units of the Ministry who will share with the participants theoretical information as well as their practical experience.
