Training for Representatives of Kakheti Region on "Environmental Democracy-Human Rights and Duties"
The LEPL EIEC of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia continues the information campaign on the topic "Environmental Democracy - Human Rights and Duties".
Training was held in Sighnaghi and Telavi as part of the campaign, with members from the public, local non-governmental, and media sectors of municipalities in attendance. The participants learned about the importance of human environmental rights and obligations, as well as access to environmental information, as well as the fulfilment of the Aarhus Convention's obligations.
The goal of this training is to make it easier for the government to meet its commitments under the Aarhus Convention. The Aarhus Convention, to which Georgia signed in 2001, requires signatory states to provide access to environmental information, public participation in decision-making, and access to justice.
The EIEC will hold training on environmental human rights and duties with representatives of municipalities in all parts of Georgia until the end of 2019.
