The public hearing for the draft law on biodiversity will be held on November 27th at 15:00 at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia. The address: Marshal Gelovani Avenue, # 6.
The draft law of Georgia on biological diversity was developed in order to create a legal basis for the fulfilment of the obligations set out in the Association Agreement with the European Union and to harmonise Georgian legislation with European conservation policy.
The specific goals of the draft law of Georgia on Biodiversity are to ensure:
✔Protection and long-term conservation of wild plants and wildlife species.
✔Protecting and conserving habitats through establishing an emerald network and creating protected areas that are part of worldwide networks;
✔Regulate international wildlife trade so that these species are not endangered;
✔Access to genetic resources and associated traditional knowledge, as well as equitable distribution of the benefits derived from their use
✔If you wish to participate in the public hearing, please confirm your attendance no later than November 25, this year.
