Public discussion of the ,,The National Report on the State of the Environment 2014-2017''

Public discussion of the National Report on the State of the Environment 2014-2017 implemented by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture was organized by the Environmental Information and Education Centre with the support of GIZ. 

The meeting was opened by the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Nino Tandilashvili who thanked the audience for their participation in the public discussion and spoke to them about the importance of elaboration of the National Report on the State of the Environment and the involvement of the society in this process. 

The public discussion was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Defence, Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, experts and other stakeholders. 

Within the meeting, the draft of the national report was presented to the attendees after that the public discussion continued in the discussion format and the participants expressed their views and comments regarding the project.

The National Report is a summary of the information on the state of the environment, which is produced every four years and aims to inform decision-makers and society about the state of Georgia's environment. Several chapters of the national report project were developed with the support of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the US Agency for International Development.

The National Report covers such directions as the state of elements of the environment, other important environmental issues and risks, the impact of the economic sector on the environment and environmental governance.
