Within the framework of the action plan for improving the air quality in Rustavi, the Eiec of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia held an information meeting at Rustavi City Hall. Representatives from Rustavi Municipality and Sakrebulo attended the meeting.
The meeting was launched by Solomon Pavliashvili, Georgia's Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, and Irakli Tabagua, Mayor of Rustavi.
Improving air quality across the country is one of the top priorities of our ministry and the government in general. Effective, complex steps taken by the state to solve the problem of air quality in the largest cities in Georgia are part of the agenda. The focus of the Ministry is on monitoring the air quality in Rustavi and responding appropriately to the challenges here. "Constant monitoring of ambient air has allowed us to develop an air quality management plan for Rustavi City in accordance with European best practices, which outlines specific measures necessary to improve air quality, deadlines for their implementation, and responsible agencies," said Solomon Pavliashvili.
Representatives from the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, as well as representatives from the National Centre for Disease Control and Public Health, met to discuss the Department of Environmental Supervisor's role in air quality improvements in Rustavi, air quality monitoring, and the implementation of new regulations.
