An online information meeting titled "Volunteering and Environmental Protection" was organized by the Eiec of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture on the occasion of International Volunteer Day. At the meeting, the role and value of volunteering were explored, particularly in terms of accomplishing environmental protection and sustainable development goals.
The young volunteers received information from the Helping Hand Project Coordinator, Nino Todua, about the volunteering platform and the benefits for themselves as well as their peers. Irakli Jikia, who was named a volunteer in Georgia in 2016 and has been actively involved in volunteer development and promotion since 2016, shared his experience.
The EIEC has created a group of young volunteers in the municipality of Samith for the project "Reducing the Risk of Climate-Driven Disasters in Georgia," Volunteers will be actively involved in environmental activities, especially in reducing the risk of climate-driven disasters.
The United Nations recognized December 5 as International Volunteer Day in 1985. It is critical to develop volunteer activities in order to attain all of the aims of sustainable development.
