Nominations for Special Rapporteur on the Environment are announced by the Secretariat of the Aarhus Convention.

The Decision on the Rapid Response Mechanism was adopted at the 7th Ordinary Meeting of the Parties to the Aarhus Convention (18–21 October 2021). Under VII/9, the Secretariat of the Convention announces the nomination procedure for the selection of the Special Rapporteur for the Environment. 

According to the decision taken at the 7th consecutive meeting of the Parties to the Aarhus Convention, an extraordinary meeting of the Parties to the Convention is scheduled for June 2022, at which a Special Rapporteur for the Environment will be elected. 

The deadline for nominations is March 30, 2022.
