A webinar was organised by the Eiec of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture as part of World Wetlands Day. The meeting was opened by the Director of the Eiec, Tamar Aladashvili, and focused on the international importance of wetlands in Georgia.
"In terms of biodiversity conservation, Georgia's wetlands represent a particularly vital ecosystem." "Wetlands are vital for agricultural development because they provide significant ecosystem services such as biodiversity conservation, flood and drought protection, climate change management, and water regulation," she said.
Representatives from the Agency for Protected Areas spoke to the young people about the importance of wetlands and the benefits they provide. The young kids were given knowledge about Georgia's distinctive wetlands.
Eco Leaders , environmental volunteers, and students from other communities who were interested in the topic attended the meeting.
Every year on February 2, World Wetlands Day is celebrated.
