The 12th public school in Gori Municipality took fifth place in the contest "Learn in a Safe Environment "

In the contest "Learn in a Safe Environment" held by the EIEC, the 12th public school in Gori Municipality took fifth place.

The school eco-club "Eco-Friends" actively participated in the implementation of the project. One of the most important activities carried out within the project was to familiarise students with the rules of behaviour before, during, and after a disaster.

"it is extremely crucial for students to be informed about the standards of behaviour in the case of a disaster In order to reduce the possibility of human casualties" said Marina Vartumashvili, a geography teacher who was actively involved in the process of gathering information regarding the standards of behaviour in the event of a disaster,

In addition to eco-clubs, other schoolchildren were involved in the project activities and set up a school stand on climate-driven disasters. Students, while working on this stand, learned a lot about disasters, their causes, and consequences. This process helped to develop students' research, communication, and creative skills, "said Marine Vartumashvili.

"This initiative has given us the chance to cooperate with the schools and community to raise awareness about the climate-driven disasters; a conference was conducted where the implemented project was presented and the school planting zone was renewed," said school principal Rusudan Lomidze.
