The EIEC of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia hosted the award ceremony for the winners of the contest "Green Award 2019-Preschool Environmental Education" at the Radisson Blu Iveria Hotel. At the contest, Nino Tandilashvili, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, and Tamar Aladashvili, Director of the EIEC, addressed the participants.
"Pre-school education plays a critical part in formal education because it is at this period that the kid begins to develop and learn skills." As a result, incorporating environmental issues into the preschool preparedness program is one of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture's most promising and proudest initiatives. "We are certain that by boosting pre-school environmental education, we will improve the current situation and future generations' attitudes toward the environment," Deputy Minister Nino Tandilashvili stated.
The event was held in Georgia in 2019 and was attended by 120 educators and methodologists who use the textbook "Preschool Environmental Education" in their classrooms and actively participate in environmental activities.
The participants of the first stage of the contest were evaluated on the basis of the applications received, and the second round of the contest was held in Tbilisi and Kutaisi, where the selected contestants made presentations on the implemented environmental activities. The winner of the "Green Award 2019" was Natia Tavadze, an educator at the kindergarten in the village of Nigvziani, Lanchkhuti Municipality, it was revealed at the award ceremony. The winner was awarded the Green Award for Promotion of Environmental Education, a Certificate of Appreciation, and a personal computer with the support of Carrefour.
The winner of the contest was revealed by a commission composed of representatives of state agencies and non-governmental organisations as a result of summarising the points of the two stages.

Since 2016, in order to introduce the textbook, training for educators and methodologists of pre-school institutions have been conducted throughout Georgia. In total, about 1600 kindergarten teachers and methodologists have been trained throughout Georgia and have been provided with textbooks and other supporting materials.
The EIEC will continue to promote preschool environmental education and provide resources to teachers in the field.
