A Workshop was held to facilitate the gradual introduction of a sustainable public procurement system in Georgia. The meeting was attended by participants who will be involved in the process of the introduction or further functioning of a sustainable public procurement system.
Sustainable public procurement refers to government agencies purchasing certain procurement objects such as office equipment, cleaning goods, and printing paper while making a balanced choice that considers the three pillars of sustainability: economic, social, and environmental. Sustainable public procurement aims to improve environmental well-being and create effective environmental management methods.
The conference was arranged by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia's EIEC with the State Procurement Agency's active participation, as part of the EU-funded project "EU4Environment." The initiative intends to improve government agencies' ability to establish and administer a long-term public procurement and eco-labeling system.
