Public Hearing on Amendments to the Laws of Georgia on the Establishment and Management of Aragvi Protected Landscape and the Law on the Establishment and Management of Pshav-Khevsureti Protected Areas

The public discussion of the draft amendments to the Law of Georgia on the Creation and Management of Aragvi Protected Landscape and the Law on the Creation and Management of Pshav-Khevsureti Protected Areas will be held on July 1, 2022, at 11:00. 

The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia has prepared draft laws on amendments to the laws of Georgia on the Establishment and Management of Pshav-Khevsureti Protected Areas and on the Creation and Management of Aragvi Protected Landscape. The amendment envisages, on the one hand, the abolition of the Pshav-Khevsureti Multipurpose Land Area defined by the Law of Georgia on the Establishment and Management of Pshav-Khevsureti Protected Areas and on the other hand, the expansion of the Aragvi Protected Landscape is a result of the granting of protected landscape status to the Vashlobi and Khorkhebi valleys as well as to the above-mentioned versatile use area.

The issues of the possibility of expanding the Aragvi Protected Landscape as well as the issue of raising the protection category of the Pshav-Khevsureti Multilateral Area have been agreed upon with the local self-government, the LEPL Agency of Protected Areas, the LEPL National Forest Agency, the Aragvi Protected Landscape Administration, and other agencies.
