The information campaign ‘’Environmental Democracy- human rights and commitments’’ is over for 2019

The information campaign ‘’environmental democracy -human rights and commitments’’ is over for 2019 with training conducted in Tbilisi. Training was attended by the representatives of non-government organisations and media sectors, as well as representatives from several ministries. The training's goal was to raise awareness about environmental human rights and promote the fulfilment of Aarhus Convention responsibilities.

Within the framework of the training "Environmental democracy- human rights and commitments" was conducted throughout Georgia. Training was attended by representatives from all municipalities of Georgia, in total, up to 500 public servants and non-government organisations and media representatives.

The Aarhus Convention, to which Georgia signed in 2001, requires signatory states to provide access to environmental information, public participation in decision-making, and access to justice in this area.

The LEPL EIEC of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia will continue this informational campaign from 2020 and will train judges, prosecutors, and other interested groups in society.
