In order to implement the extended producer responsibility, the Government of Georgia, on May 25, 2020, adopted four technical regulations: waste oil management, tire waste management, waste management of electrical and electronic equipment, waste management of batteries, and accumulators. The regulations define the rights and responsibilities of all parties involved in the MG scheme.
According to the law, beginning July 1, 2022, distributors of products subject to the relevant MVG obligation are required to refrain from putting products on the market supplied by producers who are not registered in the MVG register and are not members of the EPR organisation.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia once again calls on the producers and importers of products subject to the producers' extended responsibility to register with the EPR Register and become members of the MGV organisation, And the distributors of the products subject to the EPR obligation, from July 1, 2022, will not place on the market the products supplied by the manufacturers that are not registered in the EPR register and are not members of the EPR organisation.
As of today, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia has authorised the following organisations to be subject to the producer's extended responsibility:
