An exit tour was organised at the school of eco-leaders

Organised by the EIEC of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture, the students of "Ecoleader School" visited the laboratories of the National Wine Agency and the National Environment Agency.

In the museum of the National Wine Agency, students visited the archaeological exhibits related to winemaking, wine vessels, and the wine library. In the laboratory of ambient air, water, and soil analysis of the National Environment Agency, the students received information about hydrochemical analyses of wastewater and surface water, determination of basic ions, biogenic elements, and heavy metals. They also learned about the methods of asbestos determination in ambient air. As part of the field trip, in order to increase knowledge about biodiversity, the students were in the Digomi meadows, Tbilisi New Zoo, and Algeti National Park. In Algeti National Park, eco leaders learned about the importance of protected areas and about rare and endangered species.

In order to get information about the topic of waste recycling, eco leaders visited the "Polyvim" LLC enterprise and got acquainted with the plastic bottle recycling process on site. The "School of Ecoleaders" is a training programme developed by the EIEC, the purpose of which is to teach environmental issues to the younger generation and raise awareness in this direction. For two months, students were given lectures by representatives of the EIEC and invited specialists. IX-XII grade students, as part of the curriculum, studied where and when the environmental movement was formed; learned about human ecological rights; the importance of waste management and existing best practices; the importance of biodiversity and protected areas; the impact of climate change; and the role of environmental education and public relations in environmental protection.
