"Green scholarships" program

A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.

The memorandum was signed by the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Solomon Pavliashvili, and the Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Nunu Mickevich.

A memorandum was signed between the ministries, as well as between eight universities and the EIEC, which is a new platform. We will jointly promote the development of environmental education at all levels, both in the bachelor's and master's programs. "We are also adding a new component of "green scholarships" that will encourage students of master's programs," said Solomon Pavliashvili.

The purpose of the memorandum is to strengthen cooperation between the parties in the field of higher education and science in the areas of environmental science, ecology, natural environment and wildlife, nature use, geology, hydrology, environmental protection technology, agronomy, horticulture, forestry, veterinary medicine, viticulture, and winemaking. The memorandum will help to encourage students who excel in the mentioned programs with "green scholarships" and internships in relevant agencies.

The parties will collaborate to promote specialists' involvement in the development of the research component of the university's master's and phd programs as much as possible.

At the meeting, the director of the EIEC, Tamar Aladashvili, presented the "Green Scholarships" program, which aims to support the deficient environmental professions and encourage graduate students in this direction.

The Green Scholarship Program will be implemented by the EIEC of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia within the framework of the large-scale initiative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) "Reducing the risk of climate-driven disasters in Georgia," which is supported by the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the governments of Georgia, Sweden, and Switzerland. is carried out with support.
