The director of the EIEC, Tamar Aladashvili, presented the winner of the "Green Award-Preschool Environmental Education 2022" contest, Nona Margoshvili, a teacher of Kindergarten N1, Duisi village, Akhmeta Municipality, with a "Green Award" and special prizes.
The event was held in the Akhmet Municipality City Hall, and it was attended by Akhmeta mayor Aleqsi Fitskhelauri and the head of the municipality's garden association, Tamuna Oniashvili.
It is crucial to instil in children a love of nature and a concern for the environment at a young age. The preschool years are a turning point since this is when a child begins to develop as an individual and understands the need of protecting the environment. To accomplish all of this, we must play a vital role as educators. We also require encouragement, and I felt much inspired by the "Green Award" contest, particularly after taking first place throughout Georgia, said Nona Margoshvili.
"It is crucial to support efforts to educate the next generation about environmental protection. In this regard, we are putting numerous interesting projects into action. One of them, the "Green Award" contest, attracts an increasing number of enthusiastic teachers and educators each year "said Tamar Aladashvili, the EIEC director.
The EIEC introduced the "Green Award" in 2018. The contest aims to recognize and reward those educators who actively incorporate the textbooks Environmental Education Before School and Environmental and Agricultural Education at School into the educational process and support the progress of environmental and agricultural education in young people. Across the nation, the recommendations are being successfully implemented.
In the "Green Award" contest announced in 2022, teachers and educators took part from all over Georgia.
