A working meeting was conducted for representatives of local municipalities and community organisations on issues of reducing the risk of climate driven disasters

A working meeting was organised by the EIEC of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia. A Working meeting was held for representatives of local municipalities and for community organisations.representatives of ten targeted municipalities (Gori, Telavi, Akhmeta,Sighnaghi, lagodekhi, Samtredia, Abaha,Senaki,Khobi,Kobuleti) of the project of ‘’reducing the risk of climate driven disasters in Georgia’’attended the meeting.

The working meeting was welcomed by the director of the EIEC Tamar Aladashvili.

‘’It is crucial that within the project the resilience of vulnerable communities will be strengthened’’  the mentioned meetings help the representatives of municipalities understand their role of responsibility in managing the process of the risk of climate driven disasters ’’ Tamar Aladashvili said.

The meeting was aimed at promoting the dialogue between the local self-government and community organisations in the field of disaster risk management,which ensures the identification of local needs, accordingly the development and implementation of participatory community projects.

At the meeting the participants together with project experts discussed the topics of public and community sector cooperation in the process risks of disaster risk management and developed community project ideas.

The united nations development program (UNDP) oversees the implementation of the program ‘’reducing the risk of climate driven disasters in Georgia, that is funded by the governments of Georgia, Switzerland, sweden and the  Green climate fund (GSF)
