The informational campaign "do not cut but decorate" has begun

The EIEC of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia launches a large-scale information campaign "Do not cut and decorate" for the fourth time before the New Year. The aim of that campaign is to prevent the cutting of coniferous trees and also raise awareness of society’s involvement in the prevention measures. .

Tamar Aladashvili, the director of the EIEC, met with media representatives and explained the aims and importance of the campaign. She also informed them about current or planned activities. The media representatives launched the campaign "Do not cut but decorate". They symbolically decorated the Christmas tree and called on the public to get involved.

The members of the campaign will have an opportunity to choose the place (squares, gardens, parks located in Tbilisi, as well as in the regions of Georgia) and to decorate Christmas trees near their houses or near the companies.

The campaign "Do not cut but decorate" gives society an opportunity, in accordance with their decisions and actions, to contribute to the preservation of the most important coniferous species for our country because if 1 million families want to plant a live Christmas tree on New Year's Eve, it will cut down 1 million trees and, consequently, cut down 700 hectares of forest, which is an invaluable loss for the country's nature, especially considering that coniferous growth takes 100–120 years and cutting takes only 5 minutes.
