September 7 is "Clean Air for Blue Skies" international day. As part of this celebration, training for Green Camp "Climate Ambassadors" was conducted, which was organised by the EIEC under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.
Noe Megrelishvili, head of the Department of Ambient Air under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia conducted the training for the young people.
During the meeting was discussed the road transportation industry issues, the attendees learned about the current recommendations for protecting air quality, as well as the influence of the industrial and construction sectors on air pollution.
‘’Air pollution is a common problem, thus the international day celebration is the global effort to obtain clean air. The state is actively working in this area,which has improved fuel quality, restored the system of periodic technical inspections and modern European requirements have been established for the industrial sector for the maintenance of the filtration system and the introduction of automatic continuous self-monitoring systems. At the same time, sanctions have also been sharply raised, which should have a positive effect which ought to have a good impact.It is also important the society's awareness and the involvement to solve the air pollution problem, each of us have take appropriate steps’’ said Noe Megrelishvili.
The UN General Assembly established International Clean Air Day in 2019 with the intention of promoting initiatives to enhance air quality and increase public awareness of the value of clean air. The theme of International Clean Air Day for this year is "The air we all breathe."
