Participants in the Forestry School can now register!

Participants in the Forestry School can now register!

This program is for you if you are a class IX–XII student who is interested in the logging industry, the forest management system, or just forest biodiversity.

We are looking for motivated, energetic, and positive people who are interested in all topics  related to the forest.

In order to take part in the forestry school, it is necessary:

To be a student of class IX-XII;
To be interested in all the issues that concern the forest; 
Be able to spare 4 hours a week for us; 
Have access to the Internet.

Please note that forestry school classes will be held on Mondays and Thursdays from 16:00 to 18:00 using the Zoom platform.

The participants will learn about themes related to the forest within the context of the school and develop their critical thinking, opinion defense, and teamwork skills. The most significant is that they will  make friends from all over the country.

You will learn about the following subjects in the program:

✅  Georgian forests and their global significance 
✅ The role of forests in achieving sustainable development goals
✅ Forest types and main forest-forming woody species, woody and non-timber resources
✅   Sustainable forest management principles 
✅ Forest biodiversity
✅ Climate change and its impact on the forest, natural hazards
✅ Forest fires
✅ Production of seeds of woody forest species/forest restoration-planting
✅ Energy efficiency and alternative fuels as a means of reducing forest pressure 
✅ Protected areas, ecotourism
✅ Accounting deforestation, forest monitoring and law enforcement mechanisms
✅ forestry occupation, forestry education, and forestry employment sectors 
✅ Media literacy

Various approaches will be used in teaching process:

✅Discussion of real examples 
✅Role-playing games
✅Discussions
✅Interesting guests
✅Field trips
✅Visits

Upon completion of your studies, you will get certificates and commemorative gifts. Most importantly, you will make friends with the Centre and have the opportunity to take an active part in its upcoming activities.

✅ Please note that the status of a student in the forestry school will be granted only to the participant who regularly attends the lectures. Only three absences will be counted as honorable.

The government partner of the project is the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, and the implementing partners of the project are the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), the National Forestry Agency, the Department of Environmental Supervision, Environmental Information and Education Centre and Rural Development Agency.
