"Multiple Threat Warning System"

"Multiple Threat Warning System"

The EIEC of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia organised a meeting with media representatives within the framework of the project "Expansion of the Multiple Threat Early Warning System and Use of Climate Related Information in Georgia."

The two-day meeting was aimed at highlighting the importance and role of the media in project activities.

During the meeting, media representatives were given detailed information about the project, as well as information about the planned hydro meteorological and geological hazards in Georgia, as well as public awareness promotion and capacity-building in these processes.

As part of the group work, participants completed practical assignments using the DPSIR framework method, discussed climate change threats and mitigation measures, and were actively involved in the discussion.

The $70 million Multiple Early Warning System and the Use of Climate Information in Georgia project will be implemented over a seven-year period with the goal of reducing the risk of natural disasters caused by climate change by developing an early warning system and an effective national multi-factor threat management system that protects 1.7 million Georgians from floods, mudslides, droughts, and other climatic threats.
