A training on ambient air quality was held in Rustavi

Organized by EIEC, training on the state of ambient air quality was held for representatives of Kvemo Kartli region media outlets and employees of public relations services of municipalities. The participants of the training got acquainted with the planned and ongoing measures aimed at improving the quality of ambient air.

Employees from the National Environment Agency's Environmental Pollution Monitoring Department, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia's Department of Environment and Climate Change, and the Department of Environmental Supervision who directly participate in the processes of policy planning, monitoring, and environmental law enforcement in this direction attended the training.

Within the framework of the training, the participants received information about the main air pollutants, types of pollution sources, and main polluting sectors, as well as the general principles of ambient air quality management and current practice in Georgia.

The participants learned about the techniques used to monitor the country's atmospheric air quality, including how automatic stations and indicator measures work, the monitoring network, and the infrastructure used to conduct monitoring both throughout the country and in Kvemo Kartli.

The participants of the training received information about the continuous instrumental self-monitoring of the emission of harmful substances from stationary sources of pollution according to this, the performers of certain types of activities are obliged to carry out continuous instrumental self-monitoring and register in the electronic system of continuous instrumental self-monitoring of the release of harmful substances.

The meeting was held within the action plan (22020–2022) for improving the ambient air quality of the city of Rustavi.
