The studies began at the EIEC school "the forestry school"

The studies began at the EIEC school "the forestry school"  the learning course was opened by Tamar Aladashvili the EIEC Director and by Lutz Jarczynski the Director of the ‘’ enabling  implementation of forest sector project- ECO GEORGIA’’.

The aim of the ‘’Forestry School’’ is to provide youngsters with in-depth knowledge interested in issues regarding forests, taking into account both theoretical and practical aspects of actual and interesting topics.

Students of classes of IX-XII grade will be introduced to issues such as the role of forests in sustainable development aim achievements, the types of forests and the main woody species forming the forest, woody and non-woody resources,pests, the principles of sustainable management, the biodiversity of forests, natural hazards,forest fires,energy efficiency,alternative fuels as an opportunity to reduce pressure on the forest, protected areas, ecotourism, the mechanisms of forest monitoring and law enforcement, the forestry profession and forestry education.

The learning course will last 2 months. Along with theoretical  training also field trips are planned.The lectures will be conducted remotely through the ZOOM platform, by invited specialists and by the representatives from the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia. 

The course is developed within the framework of  ‘’enabling forest sector reform in Georgia-ECO GEORGIA project’’  and co financed by the Green Climate Fund (GCF), Georgian Government,German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development ( BMZ), Swiss development and cooperation agency (SDC), the project is realised by German International Cooperation(GIZ) and by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia,with the involvement of subordinate agencies of the Ministry.
