A greening action was held in the Dzegvi shelter

The greening action was organised by EIEC under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia. The Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Solomon Pavliashvili, and the resident representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Nick Beresford, took part in the event. There were 60 different kinds of species planted in the yard of the shelter. Beneficiaries of the shelter—children, the elderly, and people with disabilities—were introduced to the rules of planting and care by the representatives of the centre.

The participation of beneficiaries in the greening action is crucial for forest care and forest restoration. Such events promote the protection of biodiversity and awareness-raising in society,  Solomon Pavliashvili said.

It is a pleasure to have an opportunity to take part in the mentioned event, in which the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia is involved and is being held with the support of the Government of Sweden.

The Director of EIEC, Tamar Aladashvili, the Governor of Mtskheta Mtianeti region, Davit Nozadze, and the Mayor of Mtskheta Municipality, Dimitri Zurabishvili, all took part in the greening event.

The event was held within the framework of the Government Funding Reform (GRF )initiative, which is implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and is supported by the government of Sweden.
