The meeting was held regarding the first national forest inventory

The working meeting was held on the first national forest inventory. Within the framework of the meeting, local and international experts shared their best experience on the example of their own countries dealing with topics such as sustainable forest management, the strategic decision-making process, the importance of forest inventory, and the implementation of contemporary technologies in the forest sector.

It is the first time that National forest registration was carried out in Georgia and the South Caucasus region. The qualitative and quantitative characteristics of the forests of Georgia were evaluated, which are important data for determining the forestry policy.

The national forest inventory was implemented with the financial support of the German government, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).

The meeting was the final part of the international conference on the results of the national forest inventory, that was held within the framework of the forestry sector reform support project, ECO Georgia.

The project ECO.Georgia is financed by the Green Climate Fund and the governments of Germany and Sweden.
