The EIEC director, Tamar Aladashvili, gave the attendees of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee session information on the centre's 2022 report as well as its work plan for the current year.
In order to support environmental and agricultural education, 7,000 people were retrained across Georgia by EIEC. Farmers' training has continued to increase the production and quality of local agricultural products, as well as farmers' agricultural qualifications.
The "green scholarship" program was established in order to support deficient professions. The 1500-lari scholarship was given to the best students.
Three professional training/retraining programs—"Forest Inventory and Taxation", "Environmental Management", and "Climate-smart Planning of Agricultural Activities"—were devised and approved for execution in order to improve deficient professions and generate employment.
The implementation of the "Environmental and Agricultural Education at School" program continued in the direction of retraining primary-level teachers. At the moment, a total of 4,000 teachers have been trained. Students study important issues such as sustainable development, conservation of biodiversity, protection of water resources, protection of air from pollution, climate change and natural hazard reduction, waste management, land management, combating desertification, agriculture, and food safety and quality. Preschool practitioner training was continued; the relevant manual was updated, and a new topic -- climate change -- was added.
This year, the centre will actively work on developing the program and textbook for the basic and secondary levels of the school.
