Meeting on Air Quality and Vehicle Inspection

Nino Tandilashvili, Deputy Minister of Environmental  Protection and Agriculture of Georgia,  took part in the event dedicated to Environment Day organised by the UN Permanent Mission to Georgia and the Alliance for Safe Roads in Georgia. Air quality was discussed at the event, and technical inspections of vehicles were also discussed. There was also an exhibition of social photos taken on the topic of air pollution, which aimed to show the impact of polluted air on human health and the living environment.

This year, the main message of World Environment Day is to protect and restore biodiversity and ecosystems. There is a direct link between ecosystem services and air quality. It is necessary for everyone to contribute to the protection of the environment. One of the most important tasks of the Ministry is to protect and preserve ecosystems. Only through joint cooperation is it possible to protect and preserve for future generations the unique biodiversity that makes our country truly unique, "said Nino Tandilashvili.

At the event dedicated to Environment Day, Sabine Makhli, UN Resident Coordinator in Georgia, Khatia Tsilosani, Deputy Chairperson of the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources, and Eka Laliashvili, Head of the Georgian Alliance for Safe Roads, took part in the event.

World Environment Day was established on December 15th, 1972 by the United Nations General Assembly with the aim of raising the awareness of the world's population about environmental challenges and their active involvement in combating these problems.
