International Day for Biodiversity

The 22nd of May is World Biodiversity Day. The goal of this day's observance is to promote biodiversity conservation and raise awareness, reminding us all of the value of living beings in the environment. "We are part of the decision" is the theme for International Biodiversity Day in 2021.

Tamar Aladashvili, Director of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture's Eiec, visited the V grade students from Tbilisi Public School No. 186 to discuss the importance of biodiversity. The pupils were given a lecture about the need to protect biodiversity, the status of ecosystems, and the loss of species due to human activity.

May 22 was declared International Biodiversity Day by the UN General Assembly in 2000.
