Tamar Aladashvili, Director of the Eiec, and Nino, Gokhelashvili Director of the Aarhus Convention Principles and National Officer of the Aarhus Convention, participated in the annual meeting of the Aarhus Centres organised by the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).
The purpose of the annual meeting of Aarhus Centres representatives and international partners is to share experiences and best practices gained during the implementation of the Aarhus Convention.
The meeting's key subjects this year were initiatives aimed at achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, women's empowerment, and the role of Aarhus Centres in natural disasters and the green economy.
Tamar Aladashvili gave a presentation at the Aarhus Centres conference on the Centre for Sustainable Development of Environmental Information and Education's ongoing environmental awareness-raising initiatives and implementation of the Convention.
The Aarhus Convention is a special document among environmental conventions since it establishes a human rights-based approach. The goal of the Convention is to improve public access to environmental information and public participation in environmental decision-making. Since 2001, Georgia has been a signatory to the Aarhus Convention.
