Maya Javakhishvili, the deputy head of the Environment and Climate Change Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, presented the main document for the assessment of the environment and natural resources at the national level.
The report is a complex assessment of the state of the environment and natural resources of Georgia for the period 2018–2021. The document focuses on the state of the main elements of the environment, the impact of economic sectors on the environment, environmental governance, and other environmental issues and risks.
The draft of the national report on the state of the environment, according to the Law of Georgia on Environmental Protection, was prepared by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia with the involvement of other relevant government agencies.
The public assessment of the report was attended by the director of the Environmental Information and Education Centre, Tamar Aladashvili, as well as representatives of numerous public agencies and local governments, non-governmental organizations, specialists, and interested parties.
