The obligations undertaken by Georgia regarding The UNFCCC the consultation meetings were held. At the meeting, the preparatory issues of the chapters on climate change mitigation and the assessment of the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) of the Fifth National Communication and the First Biennial Transparency Report (5NC/1BTR) were discussed.

Providing stakeholders with information on key commitments, mitigation measures, and implementation progress of the 5NC/1BTR mitigation and NDC implementation assessment chapters and receiving opinions and recommendations was the goal of the meeting.

The meeting was held within the project "Development of Georgia's Fifth National Notification and First Biennial Transparency Report to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)".

 The project was initiated by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia. The project is implemented by the EIEC in cooperation with the Regional Environmental Center of the Caucasus (REC Caucasus) and with the support of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The goal of the project is to support the government of Georgia in the development of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change report in accordance with its obligations. In addition, the project helps to achieve long-term goals aimed at eliminating the negative consequences of climate change.

The Director of the EIEC, Tamar Aladashvili, the Deputy Head of the Department of Environment and Climate Change of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Maya Javakhishvili, the Project Manager of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) European Union for Climate, Ekaterine Mikadze, and the Director of the Caucasus Regional Environmental Center (REC Caucasus), Sofiko Ahobadze, attended the meeting.
