September 7 is the International Day of ''clean air for blue skies.’’ Within the international day, the discussion was organized by EIEC with representatives from the Rustavi educational sector.
At the meeting, the Deputy Director of the Environmental and Climate Change Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Maya Javakhishvili, spoke about the challenges and recommendations in terms of air pollution and the regulations and plans implemented to improve air quality in different sectors.
In 2019, the United Nations adopted a resolution declaring September 7 as the International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies. The day emphasizes the importance of raising public awareness and promotes activities related to air quality.
The theme for 2023 is "Together for Clean Air", which focuses on the need to strengthen partnerships, increase investment, and share responsibility for tackling air pollution.
Ambient air quality and climate change are crucial topics, and representatives of preschool institutions were trained on these topics. At the meeting, the Director of the EIEC, Tamar Aladashvili, handed over certificates and an auxiliary manual, "Preschool Environmental Education," along with relevant educational resources to the trained teachers and methodists of preschool education institutions.
The goal of the program "Preschool Environmental Education'' is to support kindergarten teachers and methodists and develop environmental skills in children at an early age.
