A consultation meeting was held on the issues of fulfilling obligations under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change by Georgia

The stakeholders got acquainted with the progress achieved while working on two chapters of the report. The above-mentioned chapters are:

  • Constraints and gaps in developing technologies, and transferring the relevant finances, as well as the relevant support needed and received for capacity building,
    The support needed and received for the obstacles and limitations regarding the national environment, institutional arrangements, and other information
  • The participants discussed the preparatory issues of the Fifth National Communication and the First Biennial Transparency Report(5NC/1BTR)  chapters "Constraints and Gaps" and "National Circumstances."

The goal of the meeting was to introduce to stakeholders the structure of the chapters mentioned above and to provide information. to discuss and receive information and recommendations on the specific issues, directions, and needs existing in the country.

The meeting was held within the ‘’ "Development of Georgia's Fifth National Notification and First Biennial Transparency Report to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)" The project was initiated by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia. The project is implemented by the EIEC in cooperation with Georgia’s Environmental Outlook (GEO) and with the support of the Global Environmental Fund (GEF) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The goal of the project is to support the Georgian government in developing the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change report in accordance with its responsibilities. Also, the project is helping to achieve a long-term goal aimed at eliminating the negative outcomes of climate change.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Director of the EIEC Ekaterine Bendeliani, the head of the Environment and Climate Change Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Nino Tkhilava, and the head of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) environment protection and energy department, Nino Antadze.
