The essay contest for students

The EIEC announces the contest for school students, "The Forest for Our Green Future.

 
The contest participation terms:
 
The contest is open to students in grades 9–12 from all over the country who are interested in forest protection and sustainable management issues and are also involved in disseminating and receiving environmental education.
 
The following subjects are not restricted to, but may be included in entries:
• Personal experience and the current situation in the municipality;
• The need and obligation of each citizen's contribution in the direction of forest protection;
• The need for proper use of timber and non-timber forest resources;
• Ways to reduce the pressure on the forest;
• Forests and climate change;
• Forest fires;
• Energy efficiency; energy-efficient stoves;
• Alternative fuels (briquettes, pellets, stubble, hazelnut shells, etc.) as a way to reduce the use of forest firewood.
 
 
It is preferable if the work is not executed in an artistic manner and satisfies the evaluation criteria listed below:
• Relevance to the topic;
• Knowledge of environmental issues;
• Critical thinking and analysis abilities;
• Forming own or original opinions, individual visions, and opinions;
• The ability to convey thoughts succinctly;
• The text must be grammatically correct;

• In cases of plagiarism, the work will be excluded from the contest.

Other details related to the competition:

 The work must be submitted as a Word file (font: Sylfaen, font size: 11, spacing: 1.15);

 Essay volume: up to 500–1000 words (2–3 pages);

 The essay should indicate the author's: 

Name 

Surname

Age

The name of the school

City/village       

Mobile phone number and e-mail address.         

The method of submission of works: the electronic version of the essay should be sent as a Word or PDF document to the following address: info@eiec.gov.ge,  with the name "Essay Contest" in the subject field. 

The work must be submitted by November 20th.

A commission that has been specifically formed will assess the essay based on predefined standards. At the contest's last event, the winners will be announced and given prizes in accordance with the rules.

The contest is carried out by the EIEC of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, within the project "Supporting the Implementation of Forest Sector Reform in Georgia—ECO.Georgia," and aims to raise the awareness of students about sustainable forest management, the challenges in this direction, and ways to solve them.
