The EIEC announces a media contest for journalists and bloggers: "Let's protect the forest of Georgia together".
To enter the contest, a journalist or blogger must provide a published article, blog, social media post, or video narrative on the subject of forest protection.
The following subjects may be covered in the contest work:
• The cruciality of the involvement of media and other different information instruments in the awareness-raising process regarding forest maintenance and proper use
• The forest condition, the existing management practices in regions, challenges, and solution ways (the incorrect use of forest resources, poaching, forest fires, and so on)
• The importance of forest resources for the environment and people
• The interconnection between climate change and a healthy forest
• Personal example: the story on the mentioned topic
• The pressure on the forest and strategies for reducing
• Energy efficiency, energy efficient stoves, and alternative fuels
• Reducing the pressure on the forest through alternative methods
The contest is implemented by the EIEC of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, ‘’within the project "Supporting the Implementation of the Forest Sector Reform in Georgia—ECO. Georgia," which aims to increase public awareness regarding the forest sector.
The deadline for submitting the work is November 20.
Three best works will be revealed, and the present will be handed over to the best work authors.
• Contest works are received in electronic form by e-mail at info@eiec.gov.ge; the title must state "Media competition";
• The name and surname of the author or authors, contact information (tel. number, e-mail), the date and place of publication of the competition work, and a brief description of the work must be indicated in the e-mail.
• The submitted work must be published publicly
Evaluation criteria:
• Correspondence with the theme of the contest;
• Presenting one's vision and style in the work;
• Presenting own or original opinions;
• Indication of used sources
