Organized by the EIEC, a training session was held for school directors on "Disaster Risk Reduction and the Importance of Emergency Management Plans". The director of the EIEC, Tamar Aladashvili, opened the meeting.
As part of the training, about 150 school directors were trained.
The school representatives, along with project experts, discussed disaster risk conception, vulnerability assessments, risk definition, risk management plan development, and ways of implementing them in practice. The topic of the discussion was the emergency management plan, the duties of members of the emergency staff, and other important topics.
During the practice work, the participants discussed the disasters characteristic of their municipalities and made maps where all the crucial places had been marked. (school, administrative building, kindergarten).
The training mentioned helps school representatives actively introduce the teaching of issues related to the reduction and management of the risks of disasters caused by climate change.
Within the project "Reducing the risk of disasters caused by climate change in Georgia" a training course was held for the representatives of the schools in the target municipalities of the project. The program "Reducing the risk of disasters caused by climate change in Georgia" is financed by the Government of Georgia, the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the Government of Switzerland, and Sweden, and its implementation is ensured by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
