A working meeting was organised by the Eiec. Within the framework of the project "Reducing the Risk of Climate-Driven Disasters in Georgia," a working meeting was held with the participation of local mayors, community organisations, and the private sector. Representatives of 10 target municipalities (Gori, Telavi, Akhmeta, Sighnaghi, Lagodekhi, Samtredia, Abasha, Senaki, Khobi, Kobuleti) attended the meeting.
The participants of the meeting, together with the project experts, discussed the issues of the public-private partnership approach in the disaster risk management process and defined the main goals of local community support programs.
The Climate Driven Disaster Risk Reduction Program in Georgia is funded by the Government of Georgia, the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the Government of Switzerland, and the Government of Sweden, and is implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). Meetings under the program significantly help municipal representatives realise their role and responsibilities in the disaster risk management and mitigation process.
