The meeting was attended by: the Director of Environmental Information and Education Centre Tamar Aladashvili; Deputy Head of the Department of Environment and Climate Change of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia Maya Javakhishvili; Head of the Environment and Energy of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Nino Antadze; and Director of Regional Environmental Centre for Caucasus (REC Caucasus) Sophiko Akhobadze.
The meeting discussed the issues of the preparation of the 5NC/1BTR report, the impact of climate change, and adaptation to it. The participants discussed opinions, recommendations, and notes related to the mentioned topic. Among them were such issues as the impact of climate change on glaciers, forests in Georgia, protected areas, human health, and the tourism sector.
The meeting was held within the project "Development of Georgia's Fifth National Communication and First Biennial Transparency Report to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)" implemented by the Centre for Environmental Information and Education with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
