"We actively collaborate with the Ministry of Education on these issues, as it is crucial to support the development of occupations in agriculture and the environment. To encourage young people to pursue careers in these fields, we presented "green" and "agricultural" scholarships to 64 students from various higher education and vocational schools today. We also provide them with internship opportunities in the Ministry and its affiliated agencies, with the possibility of future employment. This is necessary to fill the shortage that exists today in various specialties in both directions," said the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Otar Shamugia, at the ceremony of handing over "Green" and "Agro Scholarships" to students.
32 students in the environmental department were awarded 1500 GEL scholarships from eight universities in Georgia. Scholarships apply to the following master's programs: Physical Geography and Sustainable Development of the Environment, Integrated Water Resources Management (Hydrology), Geology, Ecology, Constructive (Applied) Geography and Environmental Protection, Environmental Management and Policy, Earth Sciences, Nature Conservation and Forestry, Environmental Protection Technologist 32 students in the agricultural field from six universities and 14 vocational schools in Georgia were awarded 500, 1000, and 1500 GEL scholarships.
Agroscholarships apply to the following programs: agronomy, animal husbandry, food technology, agroengineering, veterinary medicine, viticulture/winemaking, and hydromelioration.
The students of today will steer Georgia toward sustainable development and European integration. The United Nations Development Program's Deputy Permanent Representative in Georgia, Anna Chernyshova, stated that the investment made in their education is a contribution to Georgia's future.
The "Green and Agro Scholarships" program, which is implemented by the EIEC of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, aims to support deserving students and advance careers in agriculture and the environment. Students will get the chance to work at relevant agencies to obtain real-world experience within the program's framework.

The "Green Scholarships" program is implemented by the EIEC of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia within the large-scale initiative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) "Reducing the risk of climate-driven disasters in Georgia," with the support of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) governments of Georgia, Sweden, and Switzerland.
The "Agroscholarships" program is implemented by the EIEC within the "Modernization of the Vocational Education System in Georgian Agriculture VET (STAGE 3)" project of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), with funding from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
