A summary public consultation on the Climate Change Law "White Book" was held

In the city of Batumi, a brief public consultation on the "White Book" of the Climate Change Law was conducted. The main principles and global commitments that ought to be represented in Georgia's Climate Change Law are outlined in the White Book on Climate Change Law.

The "White Book" on the Climate Change Law of Georgia was developed by the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, in cooperation with the EIEC, with the support of the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) and the United Kingdom.

The meeting was attended by First Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Nino Thandilashvili, Chairman of the Environment Protection and Natural Resources Committee Maya Bitadze, Minister of Agriculture of the Autonomous Republic Adjara Zaza Shavadze, Deputy Director of the EIEC Ekaterine Bendeliani, Head of Representation of the Westminster Democracy Foundation in Georgia Lasha Nakashidze, and Deputy Rector of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University Anzor Beridze.

Representatives of non-governmental and community organizations, representatives of municipalities, students, and interested members of society participated in the consultation. A hybrid format was used for the meeting to encourage the greatest possible participation of the public in the public consultation.

Public consultations have already been held in Gori and Tbilisi. The law of Georgia on climate change will be developed based on the opinions received during the consultations.
