A public consultation on the "White Book" about climate change law was held in Tbilisi. The main principles that have to be included in Georgia's Climate Change Law are outlined in the White Book on Climate Change Law. The white book's objective is to carry on the extensive public consultation and discussion process for the creation of Georgia's Climate Change Law.
With assistance from the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD), the United Kingdom, and the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee of the Georgian Parliament, the "White Book" on the state's climate change law was developed.
A public consultation will be held in the city of Batumi. Based on the opinions received and the national consultations held, the law of Georgia on climate change will be developed.
The meeting was attended by First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia Nino Thandilashvili, Chairman of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee Maya Bitadze, Director of the Environmental Information and Education Centre Tamar Aladashvili, and Head of Representation of the Westminster Democracy Fund in Georgia. Lasha Nakashidze, Dean of the Faculty of Law at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University Tamar Zarandia, and Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University head of international law Irine Kurdadze.
Representatives of non-governmental and community organizations, representatives of municipalities, students, and interested members of society took part in the consultation. To promote the maximum involvement of the population in the public consultation, the meeting was held in a hybrid format.
